Huawei has taken a leap forward in energy storage technology with its new 215 kWh Hybrid Cooling Energy Storage System (ESS), now offering the highest RTE (Round Trip Efficiency) of 91.3%. This system is not only a major breakthrough in cooling efficiency but also in overall energy management, providing reliable and cost-effective solutions for both on-grid and off-grid applications.


At the heart of this innovative system is Huawei's unique Hybrid Cooling technology, which leverages multi-mode cooling to optimize energy consumption. This includes active liquid cooling for high temperatures, nature air cooling for normal temperatures, and the use of PCS heat for low temperatures, all of which work together to significantly reduce temperature control energy consumption. With temperature control accounting for 51% of ESS efficiency, Huawei’s hybrid solution delivers superior performance across varying environmental conditions.


Key features include:

  • Cell-to-Consumption safety architecture, ensuring maximum protection through over 100 tests, thermal insulation, and positive pressure oxygen barriers.

  • A dual-loop flow path for cooling, which prevents thermal imbalances and promotes optimal performance.

  • Multi-mode cooling, which adapts to environmental temperature fluctuations, saving on energy and improving efficiency.


This advanced cooling mechanism contributes to reduced operating costs, with a potential revenue increase of $6.6K/100kWh over ten years, compared to traditional systems. Moreover, the system offers a 10-year coolant lifespan, further enhancing its cost-effectiveness and reliability.
